Tuesday 24 October, 2017 – 6am

In racing it pays to get up early! For all the late mail from those in the know, The Valley on the Tuesday before the Cox Plate Carnival is the place to be as the main contenders go through their final paces.

And if that wasn’t enough to entice, admission, parking and a sausage sizzle are all provided FREE of charge and hopefully a few winners are guaranteed too!

Over 60 horses took to the course proper in 2016 and patrons were treated to a behind the scenes look into final preparations of some of the key chances – including Winx who four days later would be crowned the 2016 Cox Plate legend. Thoroughbreds from leading trainers including Gai Waterhouse, Lee Freedman and Chris Waller familiarise themselves with the unique circuit and their trainers are on hand to assess their preparations and address the media.

What better way to start off your morning than amongst the hype of the Cox Plate Carnival!
